Parsun 40hp EFI 4-stroke outboard Intelligence The engine control unit (ECU) is the brain of the Parsun 40hp EFI outboard. The ECU interprets a wealth of information from sensors throughout the outboard so that it can constantly run at an optimal level.
Reduced fuel consumption and emissions
Through the sensors in the engine, the ECU determines the exact amount of fuel to be delivered by the injector. It also delivers the precise air/fuel ratio to the engine by activating the injectors at precise times.
Excellent starting performance
A major benefit of EFI systems is greatly improved cold and hot starting performance. This follows from the ability of the system to calculate the optimal air/fuel mixture for starting as well as from the superior atomization that results from injecting the fuel in comparison to fueling from a carburettor.
Parsun's 40hp engine is available with either a short (S) or long (L) rig
Short rig (S) means that the engine is adapted for a transom that is about 15 inches (38 cm) high counted from the top of the engine mount to the bottom of the boat. Long rig (L) means that the engine is adapted for a transom that is about 20 inches (51 cm) high. There is usually an indication from your boat manufacturer whether you should have a short (S) or long (L) rig on your boat.
Modern boats for outboards around 40hp are built almost exclusively for long rigging. For older boats, short rigs may be suitable.
